Remember when you went away to summer camp and made amazing arts and crafts projects, met new friends, played different sports and games, and learned how to swim?  EJRP’s flagship summer camp for K-5th graders continues to evolve to give children that same experience at a great price and without going far from home.

In the morning, campers are grouped by age with a staff to child ratio not to exceed 1:12.  Each group will go to different activity periods, where specially trained staff will lead the day’s activity.  Activities will include sports (team sports and traditional camp games), art, swim lessons, and a morning specialty which may include cooking, Zumba, and other fun activities that will change week to week.  Every child will receive swim lessons!

During Free Time, campers will have supervised access to all of the amenities at Maple Street Park, including basketball courts, playgrounds, baseball fields, tennis courts, skatepark, and outdoor green space to run and play.

New This Year:  we have restructured our afternoon schedule to give campers a better variety.  Afternoons will consist of:

playground time -  time to unwind on the swings, slides, climbing structures, and explore the nature in the park

a group game -  Capture the Flag, Medic, Tag, Dance Party

a choice activity – Each week there will be four choice activities led by counselors that campers can participate in each day, for a half hour in the afternoon.  These options will change each week and will range from cooking to photography to skateboarding and much more.

a specialty activity - Changing weekly, these activities will include more formal instruction by outside personnel in activities such as archery, tennis, and Taekwondo.

swim time – enjoy the small pool, take a trip down the slide, play in the big pool, or experience the low or high dive

Our full day schedule offers small and large group play, structured and unstructured time, and choices for every child to have a successful and enjoyable summer experience.

Once a week, campers will participate in a fun, off-site field trip, featuring a visit to a local recreational spot (mini-golf, the beach, ECHO, bowling, etc.) or a special event at the park will take place.

Nicole, the server that hosts our registration software is down temporarily (and unexpectedly). Our IT department is looking into the issue and hopefully will have it resolved soon. In the meantime you can register by calling us (878-1375), stopping by, or mailing/faxing a registration form (see bottom-left of site).

Ashlee, thanks for your interest in working in Camp Maple Street. At this time we have already completed the hiring for the counselor and CIT positions. I would encourage you to apply with us next summer. We typically start taking applications by February and begin making hiring decisions in March and into April.

Tabi, CMS uses the multi-purpose room of the recreation center at Maple Street Park as its home base. There are games, crafts, computers, and a movie screen for use when the weather is poor. We also have a few pavilions in the park that are used by the camp.

Where do the kids go if it rains? Is there an enclosed building?

    Mary,
The information is from Summer 2010. We leave the program info on the site for people to refer to throughout the year; however, we will need to do a better job of pointing out that it is old information. The 2011 information will arrive in homes soon, with website updates to follow. Thanks!

Your website shows the first week of camp starting on June 28th, which is a Tuesday. Is that a type-o and it really starts on Monday the 27th or is it a short week?

    Thanks.
