Burlingon Free Press: "Essex Junction officials to discuss parks governance" - November 5, 2010

"The Prudential Committee invited the trustees to meet in January, and to attend four of its budget work sessions in January and February. Meeting sooner would be impractical, given that the school district has its hands full addressing the state-mandated Challenges for Change initiative, Waite-Simpson said. Also, the committee has set aside those work sessions to consider the budget, which includes Recreation and Parks Department spending, she said.

Deb Billado, president of the village trustees, said she thought the process should proceed faster. The board had yet to agree to the Prudential Committee's timeline, Billado said.

"We have not officially agreed to that proposal; we haven't disagreed," Billado said. "I'm sure we will meet with them probably in January and February, but we still think that there's work that could be happening between now and then."

Billado said she would like the trustees and the Prudential Committee to create a joint subcommittee to review the matter, and decide foremost whether to postpone the June 30 expiration date.

Waite-Simpson said she was open to creating a subcommittee."
