The Essex Junction Board of Trustees last week chose a quieter way to continue the sometimes-noisy debate about who should run the village’s recreation programs.
The board held a closed-door meeting Aug. 10 to talk about the contract that permits the school district to oversee the Essex Junction Recreation and Parks Department.
Trustees cited a provision in Vermont’s open meeting law that permits so-called executive sessions when a contract negotiation is involved and “premature general public knowledge would clearly place the state, municipality, other public body, or person involved at a substantial disadvantage.”
