This year marked our fourth EJRP Preschool graduation, where ten preschoolers were given diplomas as they finished another school year. The event was followed by a family barbecue and play time in the park. Thanks to Wendy and Emily, EJRP Preschool teachers, for their work on making this event a success. Christina and baby Kellan even made an appearance to wish the new graduates well!

The Village Kids at Summit Street School had a very exciting end to an amazing school year. We lucked out and picked the warmest day of Memorial Day week to walk over to Rocky's to cool off with some ice cream. We also spent our last day of Village Kids enjoying pizza and spending a relaxing day at Maple Street Park swimming in the pool. The Village Kids from Hiawatha met us there and we had the pool all to ourselves a day before it opened to the public! The staff and I would like to thank all parents and Village Kids for making the school year so great. We are very excited to have the Village Kids returning to Summit back next year. We would also like to wish our 3rd graders good luck moving on to Fleming School. Have a wonderful and eventful summer and we are looking forward to another amazing school year!

Summer is a great time of year to get together with family and friends. There’s not a better place to do this than at Maple Street Park! The summer line-up of special events is suited to a wide variety of age groups and will entertain everyone in the family. In addition to our great performances, you can also take advantage of the park amenities and pools.
We will kick off our summer line-up of Special Events with the 20th Annual July 4th Celebration. This year, I am really looking forward to the Contois School of Music Band, which is made up of local teen musicians. They will be playing everything from the Beatles to Katy Perry. Of course, everyone looks forward to the fireworks show, but remember that there are many great family-oriented activities going on throughout the night.
Did you know that throughout the summer, we offer free events on Friday nights? This year, our performances include musicians, theater groups, and Yo-Yo artists. We are fortunate again to have Woods Tea Company performing. Be sure to mark your calendar, as this is their only show in Vermont this summer. A new addition to our performers this year is the Global Animal Encounter. The audience will have the opportunity to meet animals from around the world.
The Friday Night Family Fun Series is not the only thing we offer during the summer. We also hold road races, welcoming all levels of runners, from beginner to the seasoned veteran. If you are looking for a 5K, check out the Block Party Fun Run. For those looking for a longer challenge, sign up for the Essex Half Marathon.
Summers in Vermont never seem long enough and our days slip past quickly. We encourage you to utilize the variety of community events we offer as opportunities to slow down and spend time enjoying the company of family and friends. We look forward to seeing you!
Every week we'll have a different blogger, from the Director to the Gymnastics Coordinator to a Camp Maple Street Counselor.
